TV through IP (Internet Protocol) is a very efficient technology platform for distributing TV content in digital format. The signal arrives in hotel rooms through a network of Cat5e or twisted pair cabling and so avoids the typical problems found with analogue coaxial cable (disturbances, interference, “snow effect”). IP-TV allows considerably more channels than previously available from traditional analogue systems. It also supports subtitles, the multi-lingual options for films, electronic TV guides and personal video recorders (PVR). The PVR feature is exclusive to VDA, and allows guests to record television programmes when away from the room.
